How to deal with age spots?

Spot Diagnosis.

First, you need to go through the visual inspection of spots. The doctor can immediately diagnose age spots by looking at your skin. Then you need to do a skin biopsy . During this procedure, the doctor takes a small sample of your skin (biopsy) for microscopic analysis. A skin biopsy is usually done at the doctor’s office under local anesthesia. After these tests, your doctor will prescribe treatment and special medications for age spots.

If you want your age spots to be less noticeable, you can use procedures to lighten them or remove them . Since the pigment is located at the base of the epidermis – the topmost layer of the skin – any procedures designed to lighten age spots should penetrate into this layer of the skin.

Prescription whitening creams, used alone or with retinoids and a mild steroid, can gradually remove stains over the course of several months. It is highly recommended that you use a broadscreen sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 if you are using medication . You may have temporary itching, redness, burning, or dryness during treatment.
